Sporting Minds

School Holiday Programs

Wordpress Website
The problem: The team at Sporting Minds came to me looking for a website redesign but also to help with some features that needed improving. Their program booking system previously would require participants to make the payment separately to filling out their participant detail form, which allowed for many participants registering for their program without completing their required form, meaning the team had a lot of back and forth communication chasing people up and getting the details they required before the program started. Their website design was also not reflective of their energetic, playful business and needed some life and fun to the design. Their online store was also old and outdated and they needed to ensure their merch was easily purchasable on their new website. Moving from their old WIX website platform onto a user friendly Wordpress CMS to manage all aspects of their business.
The solution: A custom Wordpress website was designed & built with a strategically designed website to ensure all their requirements were met. As they only had a logo a creative direction was created to work on the new design for their website, this included colour palette, fonts, button styling & graphics. The new website was then designed and built onto Wordpress which allow for a new custom program booking system to be implemented. The new system would allow for participants to book the program and complete all the required details all at the same time to ensure the team would save so much time and not have to chase up anyone anymore. A new e-commerce merch store was also built to allow customers to purchase online & collect on the day of their program. All systems were built with custom forms & settings to cater to the Sporting Minds business requirements and for future flexibility. Creating a purposeful & outcome driven website that not only conveyed their fun business with an existing designed website & messaging but would function in the way they needed so they could focus back on their business!
Step/Phase One: Following our one-hour planning meeting, we initiated the creative direction options for their new website, exploring the fonts, colours, graphics and overall styling we would use for the design of their website. The homepage design was created and approved then the remaining key page designs before the build stage commenced.

Step/Phase Two: After designing and offline approval of the entire site, we proceeded to develop the custom Wordpress site. This involved creating custom program systems for booking, products, setting up program templates, and ensuring the website’s responsive design was thoroughly tested and developed. Additionally, a mailing list with a signup form was implemented for effective audience outreach, utilising custom coding to enhance the website’s uniqueness.

Step/Phase Three: Comprehensive responsive checks across various devices (mobile, tablet, desktop) were conducted, and final program & store testing was completed to guarantee a seamless launch. The transition from the existing website to the new custom Wordpress site was seamlessly executed after the domain transfer. A successful launch followed our handover meeting, including a tutorial on site management. This covered updating programs, content, images, and products, along with store management, providing all the necessary tools and knowledge for confident post-launch maintenance.

Sporting Minds then went on to continue working together with my ongoing Wordpress Maintenance Care plans to ensure they could continue to focus on their business and leave all things web to me!
